La Grange Main Street Celebrates 175 Years of Railway History
LA GRANGE, KY: The City of La Grange is proud to celebrate a historic milestone! On February 9, 2025, La Grange marked 175 years since the first train traveled through its historic Main Street, a tradition that continues to make our town one of the most unique destinations in America.
To honor this momentous occasion, La Grange Tourism will be hosting RailFest 175, a special celebration taking place May 9-11, 2025 with the main event on Saturday May 10th. This exciting event will feature historical exhibits, train layouts, train & craft vendors, live music and entertainment, family-friendly activities, food trucks and, of course, the iconic sight of the train passing through downtown La Grange!
RailFest 175 Schedule of Events:
Friday, May 9th | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Springs Park
We kick off the excitement with an evening of live Bluegrass music and entertainment featuring the Misty Mountain String Band.
Saturday, May 10th | 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM | Main Street | Springs Park | James T. Beaumont Community Center | City Place
Experience a full day of festivities! The streets will be bustling with vendors, food, and live entertainment, including a performance by the Allen Lane Band. Families will enjoy the Kids’ Train Parade on Main Street, train show and layouts in both CityPlace pavilions, craft vendors on main, food trucks, and there’s plenty more in store! Don’t miss our Family Fun Zone at the La Grange Railroad Museum for a bouncy house, balloon animals, model trains, DJ, games, storywalk & SO MUCH MORE! Be sure to visit the Farmers Market from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. As evening rolls in, enjoy a performance by Terry Lee Goffee’s Johnny Cash Tribute Band from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, an act you won’t want to miss!

Hop on the Farewell Express as we wrap up the weekend! Join us at the Tourism Office for soft music and a light complimentary continental breakfast, a perfect way to say farewell to an unforgettable weekend.
